Hello Hurricane, you can't silence my love.

Oh how I wish I had some amazing pictures to post right now. I've been dying to get out with my camera this week, but I've had NO time. Six classes && RA is not cool anymore. Although I was in the ceramics studio the other night, with the boys playing guitar. That would have made for some awesome pictures. I got my mom's old Cannon film camera today, and when I say old, I really mean like 2000-2001ishly old.

I've had a really Switchfoot-y day/week. PLUS read this amazing piece by Jon Foreman, so I'm like in love with them right now. Their words are so incredibly powerful, and knowing that most of it is really about God just makes them that much better.

I've also fallen in love with slam poetry again this week. It's so great, and I'm going to try my hand at it tonight, so if it's any good, it may appear up here.

Oh how I miss the life of having time to be creative outside of assignments.

I've been watching the skies
They've been turning blood red
There is not a doubt in my mind
There's a storm up ahead

(Chorus)

Hello Hurricane
You're not enough
Hello Hurricane
You can't silence my love
I've got doors and windows boarded up
All your dead end fury is not enough
You can't silence my love

Everything I have I count as loss
Everything I have is stripped away
But before It started building
I counted up these costs
Ain't nothing left for you to take away

(Chorus)

Hello Hurricane
You're not enough
Hello Hurricane
You can't silence my love
I've got doors and windows boarded up
All your dead end fury is not enough
You can't silence my love

Im a fighter fighting for control
Im a fighter fighting for my soul
Everything inside of me surrenders
You can't silence my love
You can't silence my love

(Chorus)

Hello Hurricane
You're not enough
Hello Hurricane
You can't silence my love
I've got doors and windows boarded up
All your dead end fury is not enough
You can't silence my love

I said Hello Hurricane.

Friday, January 15, 2010

for the benefit of Mr. Kite, there will be a show tonight.

Friday night and I'm glad to be in my room, ready for bed. It has been a long two days. Today we learned some interesting things: how to deal with people that need to deal with substance abuse/addiction with friends/family; different drugs and their effects on people; what weed smells like; how do "document an incident" (bust people); and how to deal with community relationships within our buildings. I then spent the night with Joshua, working on ideas for bulletin boards/door tags, which I still have yet to finish. My idea is so bomb, but the execution should be challenging. I just hope my residents appreciate them. There's a clue in this post as to what the theme is, but the residents have to figure it out for themselves, so it's gonna be fun, if they want to get involved.
Well, more training in the morning && maybe time with Eric tomorrow night! Until next time, here's a song stuck in my head:

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly.
All your life,
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.

"my, my Miss Elizabeth, did you walk here?"

Today was the first day of RA training. It was long, 9am-10pm. It's promising to be a busy semester, and I cannot wait. My new room is bigger than my old double, which is quite nice, although it is very lonely. I can't wait for everyone to move in Monday. I can't wait to pass out while watching my favorite movie tonight. Can you guess what it is? ;)
